Sugar, The Silent Killer

Did you know that in the U.S. alone, obesity kills 2.8 million per year, heart disease kills 17.9 per year, and diabetes kills 1.5 million per year? If our government truly cared about its people’s health, they would actively mandate the ban of fast food, refined sugars, and industrialized seed oils such as corn and canola oil as being the top oil used in most restaurants.

Oddly enough, no one pays close attention to these numbers. These numbers are not broadcasted in the major news stations like CNN, FOX5NEWS, CNBC, etc. There is no urgency when statistics show that 1 out of 2 people will have cancer! What needs to happen/change to help reduce these lifestyle related illnesses?

SUGAR is the silent killer that contributes to all of these life threatening diseases! 

The most popular food additive is sugar, it’s everywhere. Did you know that the average American consumes about three pounds of sugar every single week in their regular diet?! It’s 2021, by now, everyone knows how horrific soda is for their health. Yet, people continue to indulge in it regularly.

BECAUSE:

The processed food industry knows how addicting sugar is and wants to keep us hooked, so they make it almost impossible to avoid sugar. 

When we have a regular intake of sugar, it quietly wreaks havoc on our bodies, plumps our fat cells, also ultimately putting ourselves at risk for a bunch of health issues such as obesity, skin disorders, fatty liver disease, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, etc. Sugars’ detrimental effects can take years to surface. Think of it as a “soft kill”; it’s the hidden link to so much of our pain and inflammation. 

And guess what? It weakens our IMMUNE SYSTEM! 

This is why winter is the most common season for the flu. Flu bugs are not aware of the seasons changes and choose to only come out during the winter seasons. It all starts with a spike of sugar during Halloween, then over eating during Thanksgiving, and all the holiday treats that follow for Christmas.
